UI designer
I built this design while working at a company called Company Registrations Online (CRO) as a software engineer. I have always loved UI design and enjoy balancing sleek style with accessibility and the practical needs of the end user. A quick intro to CRO: they were formed in the late 90s as a company formation agency and later expanded to provide company compliance services and information searches. They have an online portal that allows clients to form various specialist companies. However, the portal had not received a major update since around 2002, and many competitors had much more modern UIs with up-to-date features. To address this, I created an initial Figma concept to envision how we could transform the portal in the future.
I put the design together in Figma. Initially, I gathered CRO’s brand guidelines, logo, and colour scheme to help with inspiration. I also spoke to experienced colleagues across the business to understand their experience with the portal and how it could be improved. Then, I created semantic HTML boxes to display success, warning, error, and information messages to users. Finally, I put together some interfaces in Figma and started turning them into an interactive prototype.
Going forward, we were looking as a team at how to implement this technology. We were considering how to integrate it into the business's existing systems and evaluating which tool would be the most suitable for building the front end—Blazor, React, or plain HTML and CSS.
